Broken Paradise is the twenty-fifth chapter of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. The chapter follows Nathan "Nate" Drake and his companions Elena Fisher and Chloe Frazer as they advance through the legendary lost city of Shambhala.

After the previous chapter, the entourage now find themselves in the lost city of Shambhala. However, there is no time for celebration as numerous Guardians of Shambhala swarm the group, which distracts Zoran Lazarević and gives Nathan "Nate" Drake and his companions Elena Fisher and Chloe Frazer time to escape into the lost city.

The trio must then fight their way through hordes of Guardians, as well as fending off frequent attacks from Lazarević's soldiers. Eventually, the three come across the revelation that the Cintamani Stone, which is said to be housed in Shambhala, is not a gem, but rather a large amber stone of resin embedded in the Tree of Life. After this revelation, a heavily-wounded Harry Flynn shows up with a grenade in hand. In an effort to kill Nate, Elena and Chloe, Flynn pulls the pin on the grenade, and succeeds in severely injuring Elena. Nate orders Chloe to escort Elena out of Shambhala to safety, before setting off for his final confrontation with Lazarević at the Tree of Life.

There are eight Treasures to be collected in Broken Paradise:

• The Phurba Thogchag is in a statue at the back of the first main area, where Nathan "Nate" Drake battles some Guardians.^[1]
• The Clay Yamantaka Head is next to the second lump of resin Nate shoots at.^[1]
• The Gold-leaf Statue Head is on the edge of the cliff in the area where Nate sees the temple holding the Cintamani Stone.^[1]
• The Fibula Thogchag is on top of a house along the river where Nate battles a number of soldiers.^[1]
• The Unusual Bronze Mask is on a log after Nate and Elena Fisher move a cart to climb up.^[1]
• The Mani Jewel Thogchag is in the structure in the centre of the room where a number of soldiers and Guardians are fighting.^[1]
• The Wooden Vajrapani Mask is in the roof above the first staircase after Nate leaves the aforementioned room.^[1]
• The Bronze Statue Head is on a small floor bridging two staircases near the end of the chapter.^[1]

[edit] Behind the scenes

"Broken Paradise" is also the name of a track on the soundtrack album of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.^[2]

The Lost City, a map for the multiplayer component of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, appears to be based on the lost city of Shambhala as it appears in both this chapter and the final chapter of the game, Tree of Life.
