Dead Explorer is a minor character that briefly appears in the 2009 video game Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
In the game, Dead Explorer is the decaying body of one of the members of Karl Schäfer's Ahnenerbe expedition to find Shambhala and the Cintamani Stone. Although he is only encountered briefly in the single-player story mode of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Dead Explorer also appears as a skin in the multiplayer component of the game when downloaded as part of the Siege Downloadable Expansion Pack.
Dead Explorer also makes a non-canonical appearance in the multiplayer component of the 2011 video game Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception.

Dead Explorer is the decaying body of one of the members of the ill-fated Ahnenerbe expedition led by Karl Schäfer to find Shambhala and the Cintamani Stone said to be there. However, when Schäfer realised what would happen to anyone who consumed the resin from the Cintamani Stone, he shot and killed Dead Explorer and the rest of the expedition.[1]

In November 2009, treasure-hunter Nathan "Nate" Drake and his Tibetan guide Tenzin come across Dead Explorer in the Himalayan Mountains, after Nate had been asked by Schäfer to venture into the Himalayas and find the remains of his Ahnenerbe expedition.[1]

Dead Explorer first appears in the 2009 video game Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, later returning in the 2011 video game Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception. Dead Explorer is a minor character that only briefly appears in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, although he plays a much more significant role in the multiplayer component of the game; he is available for use as a Villain skin when purchased as part of the Siege Downloadable Expansion Pack.[2] Dead Explorer was also available for free as a Villain skin during the multiplayer Double Cash Events that took place over the Halloween weekends of 2009 and 2010.[3][4] The multiplayer component of Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception sees the return of Dead Explorer; he is available for use as a Villain skin when purchased from the PlayStation Store, either individually or as part of the Classic Skins Pack 3 downloadable content.[5][6] In Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, Dead Explorer's default attire is: Beige Hoodie (torso) and Patched up Pants (legs).
