Desperate Times is the sixth chapter of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. The chapter follows treasure-hunter Nathan "Nate" Drake and explorer Chloe Frazer as they make their way through a war-torn city in Nepal.

Desperate Times picks up exactly where the previous chapter left off. After overcoming a large amount of Zoran Lazarević's soldiers, Nathan "Nate" Drake and Chloe Frazer are headed towards the largest hotel in the city in order to get a bird's-eye-view of the city and be able to locate which temple in the city holds the next clue to finding Shambhala and the Cintamani Stone. They overcome more of Lazarević's men to enter the hotel, but when they're in the hotel, the elevator cuts out and Chloe is stuck in there. Nate must climb around the outside of the building in order to reach the power supply and must take out more enemies on the way. Once Chloe has been freed the two of them head to the rooftops, but once they're up there, they have to fight off not just more men, but a helicopter as well.

Desperate Times features six Treasures:

• The Brass Bird Lamp can be found on top of the signpost near the jeep in the centre of the plaza.^[1]
• The Silver Dress Clasp is embedded in the wall above the entrance to the temple in the plaza.^[1]
• The Copper Rice Measure can be found on the lower balconies of the hotel Nathan "Nate" Drake and Chloe Frazer explore.^[1]
• The Yuan Dynasty Urn is found at the bottom of the hotel's broken elevator shaft.^[2]
• The Enameled Snuff Bottle can be found on one of the higher balconies of the hotel.^[2]
• The Incense Burner is located on the rooftops prior to Nate fighting Zoran Lazarević's helicopter.^[2]

Desperate Times marks the first appearance of Jeff in the Uncharted series. It also features the first appearance of Elena Fisher in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

"Desperate Times" is also the name of a track on the soundtrack album of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.^[3]

The plaza featured in this chapter seems to be the basis for The Plaza map in the multiplayer component of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. The hotel explored in the chapter also seems to be the setting of The Highrise multiplayer map, was released as part of downloadable content for the game, as it was included in the Siege Downloadable Expansion Pack, released in April 2010.^[4]
