[edit] Biography

[edit] Uncharted: The Fourth Labyrinth

In October, Welch meets with Jadranka "Jada" Hzujak, the daughter of Welch's recently-murdered peer Luka Hzujak in Egypt, after his sister Gretchen arranges a meeting between the two. Also with Jada are treasure-hunter Nathan "Nate" Drake and antique-dealer Victor "Sully" Sullivan. Over dinner, Welch explains to Jada, Nate and Sully the work being carried out at the local excavation site of the labyrinth of Sobek, and how Luka was involved. Welch leaves rather abruptly following the mention of the murders of Luka and Gretchen's colleague Dr. Maynard Cheney.[1]

The following day, Welch is able to give Jada, Nate and Sully access to the labyrinth of Sobek, although he explains that the visitors must be subtle, as the excavation site has recently been bought by Norweigan businessman Tyr Henriksen, who is visiting the site along with one of his employees: Olivia Hzujak, Jada's stepmother.[1]

Welch leads Jada, Nate and Sully into the heart of the labyrinth, and there they discover a secret room below the altar room. Making their way down into the secret room, Welch and the visitors discover that along with the labyrinth of Sobek and the labyrinth of Knossos in Crete, a third labyrinth exists on the Greek archipelago Santorini. Moments after the discovery, Welch and the visitors are attacked by the Protectors of the Hidden Word, a secret society set up to guard the mysteries hidden within these labyrinths.[1]

Welch is kidnapped during the attack, and he is presumed deceased. However, he is actually taken to a "Diyu"; a labyrinth beneath the Chinese city of Nanjing that is said to resemble Hell. Here, Welch drinks a concoction that contains the white hellebore flower, and it brainwashes him. While in Diyu, Nate, Jada and Henriksen are attacked by a group of Protectors that includes Welch. Although Nate realises that one of the Protectors is actually Welch, he is unable to stop Henriksen from fatally shooting him.[1]
