Naughty Dog are the developers of the Uncharted series. The company was founded in 1986 and developed both the Crash Bandicoot series and Jak and Daxter series before moving onto the Uncharted series.

[edit] History

Naughty Dog was first founded in 1986 under the name JAM Software. Founded as an independent developer, the small team at JAM Software spent some time creating video games for the Apple II home computer system, before releasing their first game as Naughty Dog in 1989. In 1994, Naughty Dog began work on Crash Bandicoot, the first game in the series of the same name. Crash Bandicoot was released for the PlayStation console in 1996, and spawned two sequels: Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back and Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped. Naughty Dog's last work on the Crash Bandicoot series was in 1999, when they developed a racing spin-off entitled Crash Team Racing.

When the PlayStation 2 was released as the PlayStation's successor in 2000, Naughty Dog began work on the first game in the Jak and Daxter series. By the time Jack and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy had been released in 2001, Naughty Dog has become a subsidary of Sony Computer Entertainment. Naughty Dog would later go on to release Jak II, Jak 3 and Jak X: Combat Racing as part of the Jak and Daxter series.

Naughty Dog's work on the Uncharted series began when they ended their involvement with the Jak and Daxter series. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune was developed by Naughty Dog and released on the PlayStation 3 console in 2007. The game was very well recieved by critics and has since been followed by Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception.[1][2]
