[edit] Synopsis
After discovering the locations to the next clues to the location of the mythical city Iram of the Pillars, treasure-hunter Nathan "Nate" Drake and antique-dealer Victor "Sully" Sullivan make their way to a chateau in Eastern France. After making their way through the jungle and crossing a ravine, Nate and Sully come to the chateau. However, debris obstructs the entrances to the chateau and Nate must climb up around the chateau before finding a way in. After letting Sully in, they make their way through the chateau, before Sully sees a tower that matches the description that they are looking for. Nate and Sully make their way to this tower, where they must solve a puzzle involving armour-suited knights. After solving this puzzle, Nate and Sully uncover a secret passage, but as Nate passes through this passage it collapses beneath him and he falls into a grotto below the chateau.[1]
Nate makes his way through the grotto, before climbing up a well into one of the chateau's courtyards. Here, he sees Talbot, the right-hand man of Katherine Marlowe, the head of a secret society dating back 400 years and Nate's main adversary in the search for Iram. Talbot has brought a small army of Marlowe's agents and hired thugs to the chateau, and Nate must defeat a number of these before advancing into the second courtyard and regrouping with Sully. After defeating the remaining agents and thugs, Nate and Sully make their way back into the chateau, where they come across a dead and severely disfigured agent. On the ground floor of the chateau, Nate completes a puzzle involving pressure pads that unlocks the entrance to the tomb that contains a clue to the location of Iram. After solving another puzzle in this tomb, Nate and Sully retrieve half of an amulet that, when matched up with the second half, will reveal where the next clue to the location of Iram is. However, Nate only has time to transcribe this information before Talbot appears with several agents. Held at gunpoint, Nate is forced to hand over his half of the amulet, before a swarm of spiders descends on the tomb. Talbot callously watches one of the agents be killed by the spiders before exiting, leaving Nate and Sully to make their own escape.[1]
