In October, the private security firm that Suarez works for is hired by Phoenix Industries, as the CEO of the company Tyr Henriksen and his associate Olivia Hzujak are venturing into a Chinese labyrinth known as "Diyu" - what is known as Hell in Chinese mythology. Suarez is one of sixteen members of a squad of mercenaries that are assigned to the mission.[1]

After arriving in Nanjing, China, Suarez and his fellow mercenaries make their way into the labyrinth beneath the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum. Also with Henriksen, Olivia and the mercenaries are Henriksen's bodyguard Corelli, Olivia's stepdaughter Jadranka - more commonly known as "Jada" - and treasure-hunter Nathan "Nate" Drake.[1]

After the entourage has made their way into the labyrinth, Olivia turns on Henriksen and reveals that it is her that is in control. Suarez and the mercenaries are ordered to kill Henriksen, Jada and Nate after the latter kills Corelli. However, before the mercenaries can carry out the execution they are attacked by the Protectors of the Hidden Word, an enduring society set up to hide the secrets that the labyrinth holds. A prolonged skirmish between the mercenaries and the Protectors then occurs, which sees the death of ranking officer Perkins and a number of other mercenaries.[1]

Following the skirmish, Suarez is one of three mercenaries that remain. Suarez and his fellow mercenaries Massarsky and Garza escort Olivia to the heart of the labyrinth, and there they find the "Minotaur", a man that has been transformed into the mythical beast after drinking a concoction that includes the white hellebore flower. The remaining mercenaries battle the Minotaur, and although the beast kills both Massarsky and Garza and severely wounds Suarez, Suarez is able to kill the Minotaur and escort Olivia to the treasure vault within the labyrinth.[1]

In the treasure vault, Suarez uses his gun to kill the remaining Protectors and their apparent leader, the Mistress of the Labyrinth. However, following this Olivia sets off a trap that begins flooding the treasure vault. Olivia is dragged beneath the water by the previous Minotaur, and Suarez escapes the flooded chamber alongside Nate, Jada and antique-dealer Victor "Sully" Sullivan. However, moments after making it to safety Suarez dies as he is overcome by the wounds suffered in the labyrinth. As Nate closes Suarez's eyes, he thanks the mercenary for not killing them.[1]
